Senior staff salute: Hannah Steele

By ADRIANA GUTH-BOROWSKI – Senior Hannah Steele can often be found in Mr. Nath’s room spending countless hours writing, editing, revising, and designing for the High Arrow.

During her freshman year, Steele stood out as a dedicated and eloquent writer on the staff. This allowed her to become an associate editor during her sophomore year, before advancing to become co-editor of the High Arrow for the past two years.

Steele has produced ground-breaking articles for both The High Arrow and the Indiana Gazette Student News section, as well as other publications including interviewing the band Wheatus at a local music festival and freelancing a concert review on the Allman Betts Band for a Florida based rock critic website. In addition, Hannah assembled a monthly High Arrow newsletter, which allowed for print publication to continue.

In addition to her contribution to the High Arrow, Steele was involved in many different activities at IHS. She has been a member of the girl’s Tennis Team for four years. Steele concluded her senior season as a co-captain. Additionally, Steele has a spotless academic record and is a member of the National Honors Society. In December, she was named Girl of the Month.

Steele will continue her education at Seton Hill as a nursing major in the fall.

“Leaving the High Arrow is so emotional for me because it defined my high school experience,” Steele stated. “I dedicated a lot of time and effort to making the publication reach its highest potential. As a freshman, I never expected to leave high school with such an affinity for journalism. I hope to write for the collegiate newspaper at Seton Hill and minor in English to continue my passion for writing.”

Steele dedicated countless hours to writing and editing various articles in order to make the publication a success. Her head-strong manor and dedication will be greatly missed.

“I want to thank the staff, other editors, and especially Mr. Nath for making the publication awesome and for the amazing four years in journalism class,” Steele stated.
