By KILEY BRANAN – As the 2020-21 school year begins, so does the volleyball season. The girls on the volleyball teams worked hard during summer conditioning and are ready to tackle this season. They are looking forward to being back and playing as they were unsure if they would be able to due to COVID-19, that hasn’t changed the effort they’ve put in.

Many of the girls are experienced and always happy when the fall sports season comes around. The team has high hopes for the 2020 season.

“This season has given us many challenges, especially during the pandemic. No spectators really changed the game for us,” commented sophomore Abbey Huey, “We have been adapting very well. It is sad to see our seniors have their last season turn out like this, but we are making the best of what we have.”

The girls are hopeful that they will have a good season, and they all love volleyball.“It’s like being with friends every day and playing volleyball is just an added bonus,” commented junior Lizzy Lubold. Lubold has been playing since seventh grade and feels like the girls on the team are family.

The team started practices after tryouts in early August and has worked hard throughout the past month and a half to make this season a great one, and they are all confident that it will be. “This season we definitely have a stronger offense than we did last year. We have a couple of games coming up that could get us a playoff spot. We could do great this year, we just have to put in a lot of hard work” said Huey.

The Varsity and JV teams are not the only ones excited for the season. The freshmen team seems excited about this year’s season as well. “My favorite thing about the volleyball team is the girls on the team, they are so great and I love being around them. We have some great laughs together and they are always there for you,” stated freshman Ashlyn Branan.

The freshman team is looking forward to working hard and winning some games this season. Branan mentioned, “We are all young and still learning and getting better every day hoping to finish the season on a great note!”

The teams are hoping to win lots of games, make it to the playoffs, and make 2020 a great season. The girls are happy with how it’s going so far and can’t wait to see what this season has in store for all three teams.
