By KILEY BRANAN – Senior Kendall Branan recently ran first overall in the state and third overall in the nation for winter track. Kendall is a very accomplished runner and is hoping to improve even more as he heads to the University of Pittsburgh to run track.

Branan has been running since he was about eight years old. His father got him interested in running because it was something he enjoys himself. Branan commented, “I think my greatest influence would be my dad,” said Branan. He mentioned that his father, as well as his coaches, have played a big role in helping him get where he is now, as well as helping him to get better in the future. Branan added, “They push me to work harder at every practice and in my free time, and that has been really nice of them to devote their time to helping me.”

One of his favorite things about being in track is getting to run at all the meets, and being able to push himself to do better in every race. “I am really excited about getting third and first overall, and I hope I can get better!” commented Branan.

Branan is a senior and will be graduating this year but will continue his running career at Pitt where he recently committed. Branan is excited to become a member of the Pitt running team. “He is a really great runner and it is nice to have him as a teammate in track and be able to run with him,” said freshman John Berzonsky. In track, his teammates think very highly of him and know that he works hard to improve his scores.

“Kendall is a nice person and having him on the team is great, he is very good at what he does in track,” commented sophomore Belle Garzarelli. Branan plans to continue to work hard this year and get better and stronger with each meet.

Branan concludes, “I am very grateful for all of my accomplishments, and  I want to continue to improve. I would like to thank my parents, coaches and my faith for all that they have done for me.”

Kendall Branan is the type of athlete that inspires his teammates with his work ethic and positive attitude, keeping him miles ahead of the competition.
