IHS WRESTLERS GO TO WPIALS

By ELLA MOSCO

Senior Danny Turner, Will Turner sophomore, Carter Putt freshman, Nico Fanella Freshman all made the journey to Leechburg Pa, to compete in the WPIAL tournament on February 26.

Freshman Carter Putt comments, “I think that wrestling at the 2022 WPIALS was a fun experience not just for me, but for the entire team as well. From the hotel to the just good team bonding we got to have was an experience I’m looking forward to the next few years as well. The level of high-quality wrestling was like none I have ever run into before leading to Danny Turner (SR), Will Turner(SO), and I (FR) all not qualifying for the state tournament, but Nico Fanella (FR) did.”

It is a win for everybody when a select few make it to the WPIAL tournament. They compete against the best of the best, so the whole team is very proud of everyone who made it to WPIALS.

WPIALS is a big accomplishment to make. The wrestling meet was challenging and exciting, the four kept their heads up and stuck to their plan. All of the wrestling supported them as they went heads high into the meet. Nico Fanella was the only IHS wrestler to make it to states, he competed on March 11.
