By ASHLEE GRAHAM – With every new school year comes a few newly added faces to the staff of IHS.
This year, the school is welcoming a few new teachers, as well as the return of a few familiar faces. Mr. Michael Farina, Dr. Sarah Bond, Mr. Peter Woytowish, Ms. Jonelle Dongilla, and Mr. Benoit Denault branch over a few different departments, from core subjects to electives.
In the year prior, Mr. Farina was a long-term substitute who filled in for Mrs. King in the senior English electives. Now, Mr. Farina is full time in the senior high where he is teaching 9th grade English.
“Mr. Farina is great, he’s a wonderful English teacher,” stated freshman Rachel Wilson. “I’m so glad that I get to have him for his first ‘official’ year.”
Mr. Denault was a previous teacher in the French department that moved to the junior high, but he has now come back to the senior high this year to split time between the schools.
Senior Frankie Baumer states, “I’m really excited that Mr. D is now back in the school, he was always such an enthusiastic teacher, and has always liked his students a lot.”
Another familiar face being added to the English department is Dr. Bond, who many students in the building had as a kindergarten teacher. This year, Dr. Bond will be splitting her time between the high school and junior high. Her favorite thing so far about IHS is the way that the staff cares about the students.
Coming up from the junior high is Mr. Woytowish. He had been a Phys. Ed. teacher for the junior high and has now moved up to the senior high. Senior Skylar Hughes expressed, “Mr. Woytowish is a very respectful, kind-hearted man, and I am so glad that he is at the senior high to interact with us older kids this year. Many of us had him before in the junior high, and we are excited to have him again the second time around.”
The newest staff member that has been added this year is Ms. Dongilla in the ESL department. The students already love her and are excited to spend a great year with her. She splits her day between the junior and senior high. She has already had a good start to the school year, as is helping students learn new concepts and help re-establish old ones.
