By JORIE MEIL – As another year starts at IHS  the school community has to bid goodbye to several favorite teachers. Mr. Scott Salser, Mrs. Carla Sandbothe, and Mrs. Erin Eisenman all left IHS at the end of last year, with Salser and Sandbothe retiring and Eisenman moving on to become principal at Eisenhower Elementary.

Mr. Salser was the vocal music director and music theory teacher at IHS. He taught classes such as A Capella choir, women’s chorus, men’s chorus, Madrigals, and music theory. Salser also helped out with last year’s musical as the vocal director and was inducted as an honorary member of the International Thespian Society. Ms. Laird has taken over as the new IHS choir director in the wake of Mr. Salser’s departure.

“I’m so glad I got to be in A Capella choir with Mr. Salser as director,” praises senior Alyssa McLaine, “He always encouraged students in their love of music and was an outstanding choir director at IHS.”

Mrs. Sandbothe was the librarian at IHS and also spent many years as a librarian at the elementary schools in the district. She could always be found in the library helping you find the perfect book for an assignment or for a fun read. The librarian duties at IHS will now be filled by the junior high librarian Ms. Pisarcik.

“I remember having her back in elementary school, and her love for and presence in the library is something that will be missed and hard to live up to,” expressed junior Audra Moore.

The last of this year’s departed teachers is former vice principal Ms.Eisenman. Ms. Eisenman has moved and is now the principal of Eisenhower. She will be remembered at IHS for her dance rules and friendly greetings in the hallways. The position of vice principal is now being filled by Mr. Doug Johnson.

“Ms. Eisenman was unlike any principal I’ve ever had,” gushed senior Connor McQuaide, “She was always super involved in our school. I always loved her blazers that she wore. She will be missed!”

Whether they moved or retired, IHS will miss these three favorites. Thank you for everything you’ve done for us and we hope you have a great life after IHS!
