IHS girls’ basketball rolls into season

By Addison Mosco

IHS girls’ basketball kicked off their season with a game at Forest Hills High School against the Forest Hills Rangers. The game ended with a score of 45 Indiana and 53 Forest Hills.

Regarding how the season is going, sophomore Laken Kugler comments, “I believe our team has done an excellent job so far this season and I am really proud of how hard we have been working to keep improving. Every practice we work hard to get better and improve. My favorite part of being on the team is playing with some of my closest friends. They make the experience of playing basketball here so much better. My coaches and teammates have helped me improve this season by giving me confidence and making me work hard to get better.”

Led by head coach Michael Franciscus and assistant coach Dave McCombie, the IHS girls’ basketball currently has an impressive record of 12-3. The athletes on the team work hard at practices and it pays off when they go into their games. They continually show that though there are some tough games, they can always come together and improve themselves.

Junior Emily Betsinger expresses, “We’ve done pretty well as for having a tough section. But we always pull through when it is needed the most. Our basketball team is more than just a basketball team, it is a family. There is no hate and no drama. We all share a love for each other and for the game we are playing. I have learned how to deal with adversity with not being able to play with my teammates due to an injury.”

The IHS girls’ basketball team has worked very hard to get where they are. Many of the athletes have been playing on a basketball team since middle school and have continuously shown improvement. The students of IHS girls basketball continue to show their hard work and dedication throughout the season.
