Indiana Area Senior High School

By MAGGIE MEDVETZ – After four years of being a valued member of the High Arrow, as well as other organizations at IHS and in the Indiana Community, senior Adriana Guth-Borowski bids farewell to her high school career.

Leaving a great trail of accomplishments, Adriana’s time at IHS was not wasted by any stretch of the imagination.

In the past four years, Adriana has been involved in Key Club Executive Board, the High Arrow newspaper, Journalism Club, IHS Dems, United Sound, the musical pit, marching band, county band, and varsity lacrosse.  She also serves as a Senior Class Representative and an Indiana Gazette Student Writer.

Outside of school, Adriana works at the Common Place Coffee Bakery and volunteers for the White Township Recreation Department.

Being involved in bountiful organizations, Adriana has no doubt made an impact on IHS and her community; but one of these things, in particular, has had the greatest impact on her.

“The High Arrow has had the most impact on me during my time at IHS,” explained Adriana.  “I am very grateful for my experiences and for Mr. Nath for offering constant support and guidance. Being editor in chief has brought me so much joy, and I have loved growing and watching others grow during my time in journalism. The class inspired me to get my minor in journalism and public relations from IUP before I graduate from IHS.”

“When Adriana joined the newspaper staff as a freshman, it was immediately apparent that she would someday be the editor in chief,” asserted High Arrow adviser and journalism teacher Mr. Nath. “She is a gifted writer and shows a remarkable understanding of what journalism is really all about, something that is crucial in today’s media environment. I feel very fortunate to have had the pleasure of working with her for the past four years. To say that I will miss her is a grand understatement. We have been through a lot together and I am certain that her work with the High Arrow will influence IHS journalism students for many years to come.”

Adriana will be attending Indiana University of Pennsylvania Robert E. Cook Honors College and is planning to major in marketing and psychology, to accompany her already acquired journalism and public relations minor.

Experiences that students go through in high school often teach them powerful lessons, and provide much wisdom that they can share with people who are to follow in similar footsteps.  For Adriana, this wisdom is all about doing what makes you happy and what you’re passionate about.

“My advice for underclassmen would be to do what makes you happy. I think that it is important to make the best of your time at IHS. For me, that was journalism,” shared Adriana.

As Adriana graduates, she will no doubt be missed by IHS and her peers; but, we congratulate her on having a tremendous high school career and look forward to seeing all that she will do in the future.
