By SYLVIA GALENO – Dance team is back with new faces to support the basketball team. The dance team held their first practice on Thursday, November 21, ready to learn new routines. Auditions were held in November, and some auditioning dancers were nervous, but enjoyed themselves. Using their talents, the girls are excited to support and represent the school at the upcoming basketball games.

The team helps out with keeping the crowd and the players excited at the games. The girls on the team are dedicated. Most have been dancing for a long time and enjoy what they do. Dance team incorporates their after school dance activities with school activities. Senior Ashley Yanni says she is excited to make more memories with the team and her underclassmen. She has been dancing for 15 years. Her first year on Dance Team was her junior year.

Senior Gia Grettler also started as a junior and is excited about learning new dances and cheering on the basketball team. Grettler is no stranger to the dancing scene; she has been dancing since she was two years old. Her favorite part about being on the team is “having the opportunity to dance with some of my good friends while representing the school.” For those who are new this year on the team, she would like to give them this piece of advice, “Definitely to be confident when on the court, and remember it is not the end of the world if you mess up.”

Trying something new may be a mix of emotions, but junior Ashley Hite is excited to be a part of this year’s Dance Team. She has been dancing for 12 years and this is her first year on the team. She says she’s, “excited to dance at the basketball games this year.” What Hite likes most about the team is that all the girls are nice and fun. She says the team is strong and they will always be there for one another. It’s always fun joining something new and creating new memories along the way.
