By KILEY BRANAN and ADRIANA GUTH-BOROWSKI – The IHS Girls Golf team, coached by Elmer Bland, has kicked off the season with a current record of 7-3. This is the best record out of all IHS girls golf teams.

The team’s line-up for the year is juniors Quinn Martineau, Sydney Brice, and Hannah Reilly, sophomore Jenny Todd, and junior Sara Kane, respectively.

This season, many members of the team have been having career best match scores. Junior Sydney Brice shot a career low of 42. Sophomore Ally Conrad and Jenny Todd each shot a career low of 48. Junior Quinn Martineau has acquired four match medal finish, scoring the lowest score of the match.

Each member of the team had been working hard to make the season the best in IHS history. “This season is going great,” stated junior Sara Kane. “It’s our best yet and our team has been improving so much. I’m very proud of all of us.”

Golf is often a game of mental gymnastics. “Often times I face challenges mentally, as golf is a very mental game,” expressed junior Hannah Reilly. “I just have to keep a positive attitude and remember to have fun. One bad shot won’t ruin everything.”

Sydney Brice, who is number 2 in the line-up this year, stated,“I enjoy the challenges you have to face and playing with people that push your skill level.  My Dad introduced me to the game at a very young age and I have enjoyed it since.”

Each member of the team has been working hard in order to accomplish their record breaking season. “I’m very happy for our team that we have a winning record and are a top team!” said Hannah Reilly. “We have a great group of supportive people which makes our team special to me.”
