As the anticipation builds and diamonds start to appear around the school. Leadership starts planning and soon enough Mini-THON is right around the corner. Mini-THON is an annual event at IHS that raises money for the Four Diamonds Foundation. This year, the event will take place on March 23, 2023 and will be from 6:00pm to 12:00am.
Senior Maura Knepper comments, “We want to make the event for everyone; that means making it not just a fun and meaningful event but also a comfortable and inclusive environment for all IHS students. We never want someone’s reason for not signing up for Mini-THON to be that they don’t feel like they’d be welcome at the event. We’re also working hard to include a wider variety of activities into the night, as we want there to be things that appeal to many interests. We want everyone to be able to expect to have a good time at Mini-THON and find things that they enjoy doing while at the event.”
Mini-THON is very important to the school community and is looked forward to every year. Leadership students have been working very hard to plan and organize this year’s event.
Senior Dri Petroff states, “We have already had 144 sign-ups in 48 hours which is record-breaking. Not only am I excited for Mini-THON, but everyone in the leadership seminar and the people that signed up so far are all really excited to participate in the fun and eventful night. I think that Mini-THON is so important. It brings awareness and also raises money for kids with cancer. We are trying to help them in any way possible. I am very thankful that Ms. Duffy has inspired us to become so involved with it. My favorite part about the special night is everyone coming together and having a great time for such a great cause.”
The events of Mini-THON will not be revealed until the night of. In the past, there have been games like Hungry Hungry Hippos, Spike Ball, Four Corners, and Volleyball. There is also a chance to listen to guest speakers and eat food from local restaurants.
Senior Maycie Lorelli says, “Our plans for Mini-THON so far are looking really exciting! It’s going to be a fun-filled night with lots of exciting things leading up to it! We have several fundraisers planned that everyone can participate in! I, as well as the whole leadership team, are super-excited to see things coming together and we cannot wait until March 23! I think Mini-THON is one of the most important events to take place at IHS. It’s a great socializing night where you can have fun with friends as well as meet new people. It brings so many people together all for one extremely important cause.”
