High Arrow Staff Spotlight: Caroline Porter

By SKY STEVENS

Senior Caroline Porter is a first-year reporter in the High Arrow. She has previous experience though having been a reporter for the junior high Crimson Arrow for two years previously. So far, Porter has worked very hard on all of the articles she has gotten out.

Porter finds the aspect of learning something new and being able to share it with others the best part of journalism. She claims this is what motivates and excites her most about being a reporter.

Although writing in journalism is something that brings joy to Porter, this is not what she has envisioned for her future. A pathway into the education field is what interests her the most, either in History or English. Although not a definite plan is set into stone, she has much passion and interest in a future with teaching and sharing valuable information with others.

Senior Emma Sheeran who works with Porter in the High Arrow, commented on the great and positive energy she brings to class every day, “Caroline Porter is a great and fun person to be around. She’s always energetic and uplifting; and a great writer.”

Besides writing for journalism, Porter has a passion for collecting records. She has a very large and well-respected collection of not only vintage and classics, but newer ones as well. Her favorite ones include all of her Elvis Presley, Queen, David Bowie, AC/DC, and the Beatles records.

Porter’s biggest influences in her life are her grandparents. They are very political and out-spoken people, but in a very positive way. Porter adds, “They are my favorite people on Earth, and I always want to go visit them. We have a lot of the same interests; they are very helpful and kind. They give a lot to natural resources and conservation organizations.”

It is clear that Porter looks up to her grandparents greatly, and gets much of her kind nature from them.

Caroline Porter is an energetic and creative person who has made a great addition to this year’s High Arrow Staff.
