By ELLA MOSCO

This year the IHS Variety Show was back for the first time since 2019. The show was held on December 21, 2022. Tickets were sold outside the cafeteria for all lunches and were two dollars. On Friday, December 9, students were able to audition for the show.

Variety Show coordinator Mrs. Pangonis commented,“ I am really excited about the show coming back live. So far we have the hosts of Abbey Huey, Lee Rosenberger, Luca Cosentino, and Julia Runge.

Luca will also be challenging Dr. Layden to a rap battle.  The Dance Team will be performing, the Quiz Bowl will be participating, and there will be a teacher performance.”

All students had the chance to view as well as participate in the show on Wednesday. The show was held on the morning of Teddy Bear Fund Drive day. To sign up to see the show, students had to fill out a Google form from Mr. Bertig consisting of activities for the whole day.

Senior Julia Runge, a host of the show, described, “My role as a host is to introduce the talent coming on to stage as well as keeping the energy high throughout the show.  I’m just going to have fun with it and try to make sure the show is enjoyable and runs smoothly.”

The show is traditionally filled with many talents such as Quiz Bowl, Dance Team, a teacher skit, and an orchestra performance, along with a variety of singers and instrumentalists.

Runge commented, “The last Variety Show that I was able to see was my freshman year, and it was the highlight of my year!! It’s super fun and a great way to kick off the Christmas break in a lighthearted way.  It’s great to see all of the talent that the school has, and is a great time to get a good laugh.”

The Variety Show was a fun chance to kick off winter break and view all the unique talents of IHS students, and even teachers.
