Sydney Anderson is a freshman and first-year member of The High Arrow staff. She enjoys using her own creative style to inform IHS teachers, students, and associates. She mainly focuses on highlighting current events and school sports.
In her first year of being a reporter in newspaper journalism, she has developed many informative and insightful articles. High Arrow staff member and House Leader Ella Mosco says, “Sydney is a responsible reporter and gets all her work done on time.”
Sydney’s first article published in The High Arrow was, “IHS boy’s and girl’s soccer teams set up for success.” Recent articles she’s written include, “Fall sports wrap” and “High Arrow Staff Spotlight: Ella Barley.”
Sydney helps run The High Arrow Instagram account to promote the newspaper and fellow student reporters. Besides being a staff member, she also is active in the school community. She is a part of Athena Club and Journalism Club.
Sports are a main part of Sydney’s life. She is determined to advance her athletic ability by playing many sports such as soccer, softball, and swimming for the high school team. She also referees children’s soccer games ages 6-14 years old. Sydney is focused on continuing to referee in the near future, stating, “Next year I hope to be a certified PIAA official so I can referee junior high volleyball and soccer games.”
In her free time, Sydney is passionate about reading, listening to music, and watching her favorite TV shows. Her favorite song is “Lover” by Taylor Swift. Her favorite TV show is Stranger Things. Hobbies she appreciates doing include spending time in nature hiking and boating.
She is known to bring fun into every situation with her joyful personality. Freshman, Gabi Isenburg, a friend of Sydney, exclaims, “She’s very bright and has a fun personality and knows how to make the class fun.”
The High Arrow is grateful to have such an amazing opportunity to work with new staff members this year. Sydney is excited to continue writing for The High Arrow and is hoping to continue her journalistic path next year.
