IHS welcomes Mrs. Stephanie Armstrong as new administrative assistant

By Cheyenne Rayba

IHS is welcoming Mrs. Stephenie Armstrong as the new administrative assistant in the main office. Armstrong joins the staff at the beginning of February and is excited to be part of our school community.

Mrs. Armstrong grew up not far from Indiana, in Homer City. She graduated from Homer Center in 1996. After high school, Armstrong attended IUP where she graduated in the class of 2007, with a degree in art education. Prior to working here at IHS, Armstrong worked at REA Electric as a front office manager.

Outside of IHS, Armstrong spends most of her time with her two sons and husband. Currently, Armstrong is working to train the family dog to become a bird dog for her sons. She also enjoys skiing in her free time with her family. Previously, she also ran and owned a sugar cookie business.

Armstrong hopes to be able to bring a sense of energy to our front office here at IHS, a goal which it seems she is achieving. Senior Ella Mosco commented, “I love the friendly energy she brings in the morning.” Others who work alongside Armstrong feel like she is a good addition to our front office. Mrs. Stephanie Gallo, another administrative assistant, commented, “She makes the job a lot less hectic.” Armstrong also enjoys the interactions she encounters with everyone in the school, especially the students.

Many students don’t have day-to-day interactions with the administrative office, but they do a lot for our school community. At the moment, Armstrong currently works on putting together purchase orders, filling out disciplinary referrals, and answering the phone. She mentioned that since she has only been working in the office for a couple of weeks, she does not know what else is in store for her, but she’s going to keep an open mind. One quote that Armstrong stated she likes to try to follow is, “Always be open to what people say.”

Mrs. Armstrong has been welcomed with open arms into our community as the new administrative assistant. If you are ever near the front office, stop in and meet her.
