A new music teacher joins IHS

By Eva Miller

The Senior High School welcomes its new music teacher, Ms. Casey Williams. Specifically, she is the new choral and orchestra director.

Before coming to IHS, Ms. Williams taught at Richland Elementary School for seven years, focusing mainly on vocal music, and has also directed or helped direct musicals for Richland Junior and Senior High School.

During her college education, she attended IUP for four years to achieve her teaching degree. She still associates with IUP, teaching in the String program.

In that program she educates individuals from ages four to twenty-two how to play the violin. Her other musical interests include playing in a quartet, singing and playing at weddings. Ms. Williams has experience playing in a symphony as well.

Ms. Williams students’ learn about both choral and instrumental music here at IHS, and she enjoys sharing her experiences with her classes.

Her students admire working with her, and freshman Destiny Gribschaw states, “She’s super organized and makes the class extremely fun.” Senior Madison Milner adds, “She has a way of doing things that makes you want to engage.”

Ms. Williams mentions how the students and staff have been wonderful to her and loves to see how dedicated her students are to music. Freshman John Cross also adds, “She seems really sweet and I like her teaching style and energy.”

Students involved in music at IHS with Ms. Williams are happy and super thrilled about their new teacher. New teachers will always have something different to teach, whether that be a way to do something, or a completely new idea or fact to share with their classes.

Overall, Ms. Williams is joyed to be part of the faculty along with Mrs. Lyons and is also motivated to start a new club with Mr. Olear.
