By ADRIANA GUTH-BOROWSKI – The fall season brings many familiar events; leaves changing from green to a myriad of oranges and browns, Friday night lights shining on the football field, and the announcement of the 2020 Homecoming Court.

Although the dance is canceled, the best and the brightest in the senior class were elected to the courts.

This year six lovely ladies were selected by the senior class. The Queen’s Court consists of Gracie Agnello, Caroline Bianco, Sydney Brice, Quinn Martineau, Hannah Reilly, and Giavonna Spadafora.

Homecoming court nominee Caroline Bianco stated,  “It means a great deal to me to be nominated by my fellow seniors because they are the people who know me best and have been with me the whole way through school.

“I appreciate that SGA has worked hard to continue the tradition of homecoming during these times. My career at IHS has been positive, and I feel very fortunate to have been nominated to the court so that I can add another positive memory to my times at IHS,” concluded Bianco.

The fine gentlemen selected to King’s Court include Evan Cox, Kaden Duffee, Austin Homer, Max Kovalchick, Justin Reese, and Jason Zheng.

“It’s definitely an honor to be nominated to the court because it’s by my peers,” stated King’s Court nominee, Kaden Duffee.

“There are so many people I think could have been on the court, so it really means a lot. I’m excited to see what we end up doing this year for homecoming. I think it’s an interesting experience that has never happened before and might never happen again.”

Each of these students is a proud representation of IHS and the various activities each of them participates in. Although there is a pandemic, the court is adapting and keeping a positive attitude.

“It’s a unique experience, and I’m glad to be able to be a part of it, especially since I never even considered I may be lucky enough to be nominated,” stated nominee Max Kovalchick.

“Like all activities taking place in this time, it always seems as though they are stifled by the pandemic in some way. But I still remain optimistic about the whole thing, and know that I’ll be able to enjoy it regardless.”

The King and Queen will be selected in the Spring during the basketball homecoming game. Congratulations and good luck to the nominees on the court and wishing the best of luck for a dance this year!
