Football, soccer, cross country, golf, tennis, and volleyball are all popular sports at IHS. As the fall season ended, so did these activities. Some sports teams were very successful and all of the players worked hard throughout preseason, regular season, and in some cases post-season.
The girl’s soccer team, volleyball team, girl’s tennis and boy’s golf made playoffs for the 2022 season and the cross country team sent a few runners for states in Hershey, Pennsylvania this season.
State qualifier and freshman Addie Fry stated, “All season, our team was on the grind and we worked hard. Towards the end, it started to show. We all improved so much and placed great, especially as an underclassmen team.”
The boy’s soccer team finished with an overall record of 4-11-1. Boy’s cross country with 6-2 and boy’s golf with 10-5. The football team had a final record of 3-7.
Senior David Scardina, one of the captains for the boy’s soccer team, says “I’m going to miss all of the underclassmen. I had a lot of fun being with them on and off the field.”
For our girls, the cross country team had a record of 6-2. Girl’s golf had 4-13 and volleyball with 10-6. The girl’s soccer team finished the season with a final record of 6-10-1.
“I feel that our team had a great season. We had many new members added to the team this year and I saw so much improvement in every one of them, including myself,” sophomore Peyton Scott states about her season.
As winter approaches, banquets are in place to celebrate the strong season. Awards are being handed out to a certain few whether it’s an MVP, most improved, or other positive gifts to give recognition to those who deserve it most.
Junior Charlie Weber on the boy’s golf team comments, “My favorite memory would have to be the bus rides home because they are really fun, especially after a win.”
All of our fall teams had a strong and competitive season. As the season comes to a close, players are excited for next year’s season to play with new people and continue to improve every practice.
Sydney is a freshman and a first-year reporter for the High Arrow. She plays soccer, softball, and swimming for the high school. She is excited to start writing articles for the community at IHS.
