Indiana students excitedly prepared for the recent IHS Homecoming Dance by participating in Homecoming activities. With it being their last, the seniors especially were making sure this year’s Homecoming will be one to remember.
Senior and Homecoming King Gavin Homer stated, “I’m [always] looking forward to the pep rally, the activities, and the football game.”
In preparation for the Homecoming Dance, the IHS pep assembly took place on Thursday, October 6. IHS students and staff participated in many fun activities to get everyone excited about the eventful weekend to come. One of the most anticipated events of the pep rally was the recognition of Homecoming Court members. After much anticipation, Gavin Homer was announced as Homecoming King. Other members of the court were recognized individually before the announcement.
Senior Adrianna Petroff proudly celebrated her nomination stating, “When I found out that I was on the Homecoming Court, I was surprised and very grateful for the opportunity. It means a lot to me that I was nominated, so thanks to the senior class!”
The long-awaited IHS Homecoming Dance was attended by over 600 students. Lots of preparation and effort went into guaranteeing this year’s dance will be a success. This year’s dance theme was enchanted forest, chosen by Indiana High School students themselves.
Gavin Homer and Julia Runge celebrated being chosen as Homecoming King and Queen.
Students were also eager to attend the annual homecoming football game that took place the day before the dance. Senior football player Garrison Dougherty commented, “The Homecoming game is different from other games. The atmosphere is always more electric and the game is always a big conference game. It is a lot of fun and the team is excited about it!”
